Beginnings products are and always will be 100% natural.  Some of our most commonly used ingredients are listed below

Organic Unrefined Avocado Oil

This is a truly luxurious and very useful ingredient.  The dark green colour and the fruity fragrance both indicate the quality and purity of the oil we source.  Avocado oil is rich in over 25 vital nutrients including vitamins A,B,C,E and K.  It is also rich in various beneficial minerals.  It is widely used for dry skin and hair, and known for its anti-ageing properties.  It can help with stimulating and maintaining collagen and elastin in the skin, hence it is one of the key ingredients in the Beginnings Whipped Beauty Butter (facial and body butter)and the Beginnings Botanical Balm (for fine lines and wrinkles, general anti-ageing).  It is a mild and gentle oil even for sensitive skin and so is one of the three oils in the organic Bubbly Baby Soap Bar, and the Unscented Moisturising soap bar.  Overall, it is an excellent moisturising and conditioning oil.

Organic Unrefined Shea Butter

Shea butter is one of my favourite ingredients, it really is an amazing natural moisturiser, conditioner and healer.  The high quality butter that we buy is certified organic and unrefined, hence it retains the healing properties and other unique benefits.  A cheap and refined shea butter will have lost these special properties but will retain its ability to moisturise the skin.  Our organic Whipped Beauty Butter is over 50% shea butter, a world apart from a mass produced butter.  The Almond & Shea Hand Salve is also rich in shea butter, combined simply with sweet almond oil, essential oils and naturally sourced vitamin E.  Many of our soaps also contain shea, we use the same top quality butter for our soapmaking as is used in our butters.

Pure Essential Oils

At Beginnings we NEVER use synthetic fragrances.  See the About Us page for details regarding the dangers of phthlates which are often found in these fragrance oils.  Pure essential oils are a treasure I knew little about until a few years ago.  The fragrance is only the tip of the iceberg, essential oils can be soothing, healing, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, uplifting, relaxing etc etc!  Once you switch to pure, TRULY natural products the artificial fragranced products begin to smell unappealing and unnatural. Some of our favourite essential oils are Lavender, Patchouli, Cedarwood, Ylang Ylang, Sweet Orange, Tea Tree, Rosemary and Peppermint.

Vitamin E, Tocopherol

Beginnings products often have a little naturally sourced Vitamin E added for two reasons.  One, it helps increase the shelf life and freshness of the product. Two, it has benefits for the skin.  We do not use synthetic forms of Vitamin E, known as tocopherol acetate, which has been linked with health concerns.

Green Clay

Green clay is a wonderful addition to soaps, absorbing excess oils and grime for a gentle yet deep cleansing of skin and hair.  Full of minerals and healing properties, great for clear skin and a healthy scalp.
